c. 1880\'s Native American Indian First Phase Old Pawn NAVAJO Concho Belt Product Description

PLEASE READ "TERMS OF SALE" BEFORE offerDING.

DO NOT MAKE PAYMENT UNTIL A SECOND INVOICE WITH ACCURATE INSURANCE COVERAGE IS SENT TO YOU.

Circa: (estimated) Late 1800's - early 1900's

Important historical piece. Old Pawn Native American Navajo hand hammered/wrought and incised Concho belt. No visible makers markings. Each of the nine (9) Conchos are hand wrought and tooled, including the Butterfly buckle. The belt is a purist dream. It has never been altered, cleaned, or tampered with in any way. The loop that terminates atl and attaches the buckle, appears to be held together with sinew. This belt is being sold as pictured. I have no background in Native American artifacts and any information provided was given by the Consignor and may or may not be accurate. It is important that you take advantage of the enlargement feature of the pictures, and ask any questions that may concern you prior to placing a offer. Please take the time to read my "Terms of Sale" below to get an idea of my offerings and where they are obtained. All items sold are as presented in the pictures and are sold on an "as is" basis.

CONDITION: VERY GOOD - EXCELLENT. Wear and patina commensurate with age and regular use. Belt is possibly tanned buffalo hide but I am not able to determing this. The conchos and buckle are in damage free condition. The leather is very good, having darkened areas presumably from coming into contact with persperation and salt. It has the normal surface cracking and chafing.

DIMENSIONS: Belt is 43" in length and 2 1/2" wide. It is also quite thick. Each concho is 3 3/4" long and 2 1/2" wide. Obviously well constructed to have lasted 100 years or more and still be in fantastic condition.

TERMS OF SALE

Items offered are acquired from estates, sales, and Consignors. I only sell antiques and collectibles. All items sold are pre-owned and used. Assume them to show signs of wear commensurate with their age and regular use, unless stated otherwise. Vintage audio is sold by industry "as is" standards, no exceptions. My 14 day return policy only applies to a significant, meaningful, and blairing issue of damage which I failed to disclose. Superficial wear, blemishes, nicks, marks or scratches, incurred over the course of time and use, which can be reasonably expected to occur in an item that has been used or that is not brand new, does not meet the conditions of the return policy. My goal is a smooth transaction, and a pleased Customer, however, please be mindful of the fact that I am offering to the Buyer used items of an antique and collectible nature and they are not without faults. Please read my "CONDITION REPORT" which is disclosed for each item I sell, and take advantage of the pictures provided, the enlargement feature, and the "Ask Seller a Question" feature to help you decide if the item meets your condition requirement and is right for you. Let the pictures act as your primary source of determining condition. My assesment of age, or manufacturer, is not to be construed as a statement of fact, and generally an estimate or assumption on my part. I consider the Buyer to be knowledgable about the item they are viewing and considering offerding on. Please do your research prior to offerding. I will only accept a return if prior to your offer you had asked a question about condition of the item being sold and I failed to disclose the information you requested, or I have not pictured significant damage. An item damaged in transit will require filing a claim with the carrier and only when the claim is approved and paid by the Insurance underwriter will the Buyer be reimbursed. We take great precaution when packaging your item, no matter the value, and have a greater than 99% damage free delivery rate.

On Apr-24-14 at 13:26:12 PDT, seller added the following information:

Today, 24 March, 20014. I had the belt tested by the local Jeweler. According to his charts, it tests 90%-100% silver. He commented that he thought it was 100% silver and that way back in the days when this belt was made, Native Americans did not generally mix base metals with silver. He actually stated, before testing, that it was silver. Initially he did not want to test it, saying it would blemish the silver and leave a noticeable mark. I had him test it on the backside in a small confined and unobtrusive area.
