c.1505 Francia Papal Renaissance Medal Pope Julius II Bronze Conversion St. Paul
Price: US $172.50
Wonderful old medal. I spent some time researching this --but please look at the photos and make your own determination.
About 36mm & 17.0g.
I believe this medal is attributed to - \"Francesco Raibolini (1447 – January 5, 1517), called Francia, was an Italian painter, goldsmith, and medallist from Bologna, who was also director of the city mint.\"
JULIUS II, Pope. Obv. Bust r., in Papal robes, bare-headed.
IVLIVS. II. LIGUR. P.M. Rev. The Conversion of St. Paul.
CONTRA. STIMVLVM. NE. CALCITRES.
Copies of this medal may have been made up to the 19th century - this medal definitely looks old but I am unable to confirm when it was minted.
