Up for sale is a Victorian spooner or spoon holder by Meriden B. Silver Plate Company from the 1870's. The book American Silver Plate by Dorothy and Ivan Rainwater feature the pattern on page 109 in the Chapter, Development of Style and give a date of production by Meriden as April 14th, 1874 though the pattern was manufactured by Meriden through the 1870's. The high collar and tall stately legs were popular during that era. There are no monograms or dents and the inside is usable. The depth for holding spoons is about 4.75 inches. This is a lovely spoon holder but as always we ask that you look at the pictures before offerding.
