This is a Very Rare, \"Good For 5¢ In Trade\" Token from \"Troop F\" of the famous \"7th Cavalry\". This was the same \"7th Cavalry\" that had \"Garryowen\" as its march song and lost 267 men with General George Armstrong Custer at the \"Battle of the Little Bighorn\" also known as \"Custer\'s Last Stand\".

This token was issued after 1915 when they were stationed at \"Camp Harry Jones\" in Arizona. It was located on the Mexican border just east of Douglas, please see the map below. It was active from 1910 until it was abandoned about 1933. It was named for Corporal Harry J. Jones, an enlisted man shot while guarding the U. S. Customs House in Douglas.

U. S. Army Posts were established along the border in 1910, when the Mexican Revolution threatened to spill across the border. Pancho Villa tried to capture Agua Prieta, Mexico, the town next to Douglas. The U.S. recognized the Carranza Government and allowed him to bring his army by way of the Southern Pacific Railroad from El Paso. When the two Mexican armies clashed in Mexico, many men were killed in both armies. Corporal Harry J. Jones was the only American killed.

In 1916, after Pancho Villa had invaded the United States and attacked Columbus, New Mexico, this region became a staging area for the Woodrow Wilson ordered \"Punitive Expedition\" led by General John J. Pershing. He crossed into Mexico in pursuit of Villa. Until the beginning of United States involvement in World War I, the military presence was swelled by National Guard units mobilized from western states to protect the border. From 1918 until 1933, the border was guarded by African-American cavalry and infantry regiments known as \"Buffalo Soldiers\".

Edgar Rice Burroughs, the author of \"Tarzan\" was an enlisted trooper with the seventh in 1896 and 1897. I don\'t know if they had a Corporal Agarn.

The Token: A pleasing example of a token so rare that any example is better than none. It saw use, spent some time in the ground and it has been cleaned. As grading is subjective please see the pictures and judge for yourself.
