CIVIL WAR 1840 SWORD = BOWIE DAGGER DIRK KNIFE W/PROVENANCE ILLINOIS 114th VOL
Price: US $306.00
From the estate of a Maxine Estill who was the grand daughter of Capt. Samuel Estill of Greenview , Illinois who served with the Illinois 114th Volunteers Co. K. His sword was sold long ago at Maxine\'s estate sale (2000 or 2001). I\'ve had this cut down wrist breaker since that sale. What u see is what u get - Looks like the guard has some bent areas but NO breaks NO cracks - I cannot prove when this sword was made into a knife but it definitely has much age. Capt. Estill did fight at Vicksburg, Mississippi and few other skirmishes. He only served a year or so and some of the letters he sent home were definitely not flattering to Lincoln nor the \"minority\" folks at the time. Maxine never married and lived in the same house in Greenview up until approx. 4 yrs before she passed at age 90. Capt. Estill is buried at Camp Point, Ill. on Rt 29 just South of Greenview. I\'m 74 and in 7 days it\'s going to a new care taker !!!
