Beautiful Major General\'s frock coat.High quality navy blue double breasted Major General Frock Coat with gilded staff officer\'s buttons aligned in rows of three set in a distinct \"lyre\" configuration. Dark navy velvet on collar and non-functional cuffs. Buttons are manufactured blank marked. Medium dark olive lining with striped sleeves. Elbows are belled measuring at 8.25 in. in width. Rear of coat has 3 large seams that lead to a center vent. Center vent has 2 buttons at top and 2 in the middle. Brown polished cotton lining in pockets. Two hidden tail coat pockets. Long skirted. Hand finished buttonholes. Excellent condition. Minimal wear, a few scattered moth nips, a couple small lining tears. Either missing cuff buttons or never had any.
Unsure if Civil War or Indian Wars period, your call. I bought as Civil War and really enjoyed having it in my CW collection.
