This sale is for a single Diamond & Lattice (Quilted?) pattern Poison Bottle Stopper1-inch wide stopper (No. 2 of the 3 I have).
The glass stopper has POISON embossed on the top, front and back. There is a stub of glass with a screw thread on each that probably held a cork at one time.
This stopper has at least 3 blunted or chipped points (see photo). The pressed glass is very rough and it is difficult to tell whether these are actually chips or factory flaws. I tried to capture that in the photos.The stopper still has some webs of glass between the points from the manufacturing process and one very long point that was never broken off from when it was made. I don\'t see any cracks. The stub on the bottomhas embossed screw threads andappears to have been broken, not cut, from the main stem when it was made.
How it was acquired: When I purchased these stoppers, they were withcobalt blue iodine bottles. I paid $50 for the set of three at an antique show in the 1980\'s. The dealer told me not to lose the stoppers because they were the valuable part. I said \"OK\" and I left, and he followed me and reminded me again to be careful with them and to keep the stoppers with the bottles. They have beenin the iodine bottleson my kitchen windowsill for about 30 years. The iodine bottles are being listed for sale separately.I am not an expert on antique bottle items, SO PLEASE look at the photos and email with any questions before offerding. I will pack it very carefully for you.
I am having to post these again because someone hijacked my previous sale with fake offers. I have separated the three stoppers at the request of collectors and to make them less of a target for the unscrupulous. I require a feed back score of at least 10.
