U.S.A.” The left side of the slide is marked “Conversion / Unit”, “COLT”, “Automatic / Cal. 22 L.R.”, and with the Rampant Colt logo. The bolt and the bottom of the magazine floor plate are marked “Colt / Cal. 22 L.R.”

Bore Condition:The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition:This conversion kit consists of a slide, barrel, floating chamber, recoil spring and ejector to convert a .45ACP or .38 Super Government Model to firing .22 Long Rifle. The magazine retains about 95% of its metal finish. There are minor handling marks on the slide and barrel. The magazine shows wear from use and retains about 90% of its metal finish. The magazine rates in Fine condition. The sight screws are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this conversion kit rates in about Fine condition.
Mechanics:NA. This is a complete conversion unit.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories:The slide comes in its original black and simulated wood lid cardboard box. Inside the box are five individually wrapped pieces. The slide assembly, barrel, floating chamber and bushing are wrapped. The recoil spring, magazine and ejector are wrapped separately in the same brown paper. The original manual is also included. The manual has a frayed edge and rates in about Very Good Condition. The exterior of the box only shows light storage wear. There are a couple of green spots on it. The lid has a couple of pieces of masking tape attached. The side reads “COLT CONVERSION KIT / USES 22 LONG RIFLE AMMUNITION. / FOR USE ONLY ON COLT GOVT. MODEL 45 / AND COLT SUPER 38 AUTOMATIC PISTOLS.”
Our Assessment:This conversion unit offers the Colt 1911/1911A1 owner an inexpensive way of practicing with their pistol utilizing the same grip and sights as they would use with their .45ACP or .38 Super ammo. This unit has even been designed with a floating chamber that provides 4X more recoil than other .22 Long Rifle automatics, making it seem even more like your normal loads. If you shoot your 1911 a lot, we think one of these is a necessity, and it should quickly pay for itself. This one has the original box wrapping paper and manual with a print date of 5/1972. This would be perfect to pair up with your Series 70 Colt 1911.
