Is your Colt Python out of time?
You will probably need your gunsmith to replace this part, as this is the part of the cylinder assy. that normally wears out, causing the cylinder not to index properly.
This is for the earlier model Pythons (before the 1980\'s when they changed them) that were made before the ratchet & stem were made together, and they were threaded onto the splined type ejector rods.
