You are offerding on a Confederate naval officer\'s sword retailed by Courtney & Tennantmade under contract to the Confederate Navy by Robert Mole & Company. The sword has aslightly curved 30 1/2 inch blade with 23 inch fuller and 16 inch panel etched with florals, one side with crossed guns and fouled anchor, the other with Confederate flag.The spine is marked \'Mole\' andthe ricasso marked \'Courtney & Tennant/Charleston, S.C\'on one side. On the other side it is marked with a star and brass \'Proof\'. It has a brass hilt of standard pattern, the guard molded with flowering plants framing an oval with crossed guns and fouled anchor; small folding shell; dolphin-form pommel with scaled backstrap. The black leather scabbard has brass suspension mounts molded with nautical knots, the drag with entwined serpents. The sword is being sold as found with no cleaning orpolishing.This is a rare sword and this is one of anestimated only 20 still inexistence . Condition: Blade showing scattered light spotting and some wear to decoration. The blade has some tiny nicks and scuffs to it\'s blade edge which are signs of use. The hilt very good, the grip showing minor scuffing and 4 tiny circularnicks . Scabbard leather with surface scuffingand wear to the back seam. The leather has a split next to the bottom brass mount and is weak. Brass mounts with unpolished patina and a few minor dings .
