This is a vintage Conn 79H Elkhart trombone with an \"N\" prefix serial number,
indicating manufacture in 1970. This horn is essentially an \"F Attachment\" version
the 78H model. The 78H/79H were two of Conn\'s four professional
\"symphonic\" trombone models, the others being the 88H
and 8H (with and w/o the f attachment, respectively.) The 78H/79H models use a
small shank mouthpiece (whereas the 8H/88H accept a large shank). This horn is similar in size/type to Bach 36B in that it has a .522\" Bore and
an 8\" Yellow Brass Bell, with Yellow Brass outer slide.There are NO DENTS on the instrument, just some minor ping-type dings.
The finish appears to be all original (crisp engraving no sign of
relacquering) and looks nearly 100% - wear is limited to only a few spots
like the handholds and lyre mount area. The inner slide has zero indication of
wear and the action is excellent. The tuning slide moves freely. This trombone
plays GREAT! Tone is full/warm and the response is excellent as well
as the intonation - it looks clean and is ready to go!The pictures show two small areas (circled in red) one of which shows a few
spots in the lacquer at the gooseneck, and the second shows some
scratches on the outer slide which were caused by a case screw, which
has since been covered with a rubber pad to prevent further scratching.If you are looking for a 78H/79H that is close to new as you can get - this
is the one you want! Whoever gets this trombone should be thrilled
with it!Comes with a mouthpiece and the original hard case which is in excellent condition.
