Conn Connstellation Elkhart USA Trumpet in Original Case No. 941338 1960\'s. Engraved on the Top: C.G. Conn Ltd. Connstellation Elkhart USA. On the second valve is the serial number: 941338 and there is a letter B on the mouth piece receiver. This has two mouth pieces. They are marked: Conn 5 and Vincent Bach Corp. New York. The later has the most wear. There is a gold lyre that is unmarked, two wooden mutes, flexible cleaning brush and the key to lock the case. The Trumpet is Silver and Gold with mother of pearl buttons. The bell measures 5 1/8\". All valves and slides move freely and this has an Excellent sound. The first valve trigger and third slide ring work very smoothly. Valves are fast with excellent compression. The spit valves open and close freely. There is one small ding and one small spot of wear to the finish. It is a bright and shiny instrument. The mouth of the bell has a few minor marks from the mutes.
This has the original black case with a blue velvet interior and is in nice condition. It is marked on the exterior with a metal tag: Conn and on the inside with a silk ribbon: Constellation. This has a great sound and does not appear to need any servicing although it has not been played consistently in 50 years. I had an instructor give it a try so I could judge the sound and performance. It sounded Great and everything worked wonderfully. The back valve trigger is interesting for bending the sound. I am not a professional player so please ask any questions before offerding. Please view my other sales for more Vintage Musical Instruments this week.
A bit of History: Professional trumpet made famous by Maynard Ferguson who played one in the 1960. This is my Brother\'s (one owner) and he said it was purchased by my parents in 1961 or 62\' before he went into the United States Marines. I remember him playing this on Memorial Day each year at the cemetery to honor the Veterans. I am not positive of the model but my research suggests a 38B. Please email me with any questions.
