Up for offer is a Conn Director 21B Bb trumpet, one of the \"YamaConn\" instruments built by Yamaha in Japan in 1971. Serial number P-732XX, brass with nickel slides, brass valve guides, and the famous copper \"Coprion\" bell (see vintage advertisement in photos). The kit is complete with original case (a few stains on the exterior but still sturdy and functional, no funky smells), locking key, brochure, and an unmarked mouthpiece. This is a fine playing instrument with a very smooth, responsive, and sweet tone that can be dark or bright when pushed. Excellent intonation. Plays much closer to a nice vintage Yamaha than like the student-line Conns of the day. Great valves, and all slides and caps move easily. Tempted to keep it for myself, but I have to fund a recent horn purchase. This horn has been recently cleaned and serviced after sitting in a closet for decades. The original lacquer is at 95% or better, with scattered light scratches from use, and the valves look great with very little wear and no apparent plating loss. There are some pink spots in the lacquer just past the mouthpiece receiver (see photos) and some corrosion visible inside the leadpipe, but the metal is sound and I can\'t see any full-fledged rotted spots. A few small dings in the bell and a shallow dent in the bell tail, and one in the tubing that connects the 1st and 2nd valves. Overall excellent condition and ready to play for many more years.
