Coro sterling enamel art deco bird fruit tree pin 1940\'s
Price: US $118.50
1940\'s Coro sterling enamel bird in a fruit tree pin. The sterling has a gold wash. The pin measures 2 7/8\" x 1 7/8\". It weighs 24.2 grams. The piece has pink, purple and white enamel outstretched wings. The tail has metallic blue and white enamel. The fruit tree has a brown enamel branch, green enamel leaves and bright red enamel cherries. There are tiny colorless chaton rhinestone accents throughout the pin. The gold plating is a rose gold. The bird has an Art Deco design. The reverse is signed sterling Coro on an applied plaque. This piece was made during WW2 when there was a restriction on white metals which were needed for the war effort. Costume jewelry companies were forced to use alternative materials such as sterling silver. The enamel is in excellent condition. There is some wear to the gold plating at the high places in the face. Some of the tiny glued in chatons have darkened with age and some are missing. This piece is fresh from a Connecticut estate. These WW2 era pieces are becoming quite scarce.
