OVERVIEW:
This is a very unique and one of a kind offering.
It is a running, operational 1/5 scale model of a D8H Series 46A Caterpillar Dozer.
It looks and operates like the real machine. The unit was fabricated by using the scale drawings from the Caterpillar D8 parts book. The measurements from the full size machine were converted to 1/5 scale.

The unit runs on a 6 cylinder, throttled gasoline engine, and has operational hydraulics, steering clutches and brakes.
The transmission has forward, reverse, and power shift gears.
The hard wired control panel is tethered to the machine for walk beside operation.
It has 12 volt electric start, working front and rear lights, a rear hitch and front tow hook.

Dimensions are as follows:
Length, dozer to hitch – 47”
Width, to outside of track – 20”
Height, ground to top of exhaust – 24”
Track pad width - 4 and 5/8”
Weight – 440 lbs.

Over 3,500 hours were spent fabricating this unit from scratch, including the engine. The owner/builder is a highly skilled and detail oriented mechanic and machinist. He personally fabricated all aspects of the machine, and built it because he could.

This is but one, and likely the smallest of his amazing builds. His talents have led to the completion of several other significant and one of a kind projects. These include the high caliber restoration of a 1909 Brush automobile, the initial design and prototype build of the now renowned T-51 Mustang, a ¾ scale flying replica of the famous WWII P-51 Mustang fighter plane, and an incredible period lead-sled from a 1952 Mercury automobile which features doors which retract into the quarter panels.
In short, you can be assured that this Cat is built right and tough to last.

This unit runs well and has good torque, there hasn’t been a big fella yet who could stand his ground against its push.
It garners attention at every outing where it is shown, and is a real crowd pleaser for both young and old.
