Antique Japanese Wakizashi sword in Koshirae& Shirasayamountings

• Antique Japanese Wakizashi sword in Koshirae decorated mountings
• Shirasaya fitting and Tsunagi temporary bamboo blade for good maintenance of the blade
• Two sword bags for Koshirae and Shirasaya mountings.
• Sword registration issued by Yamagata Prefecture Board of Education (copy (original shall be returned to the local authority))

Appealing Points:

• Antique sword of more than 420 years old in excellent condition.
• \"Daimyo\" Registration: This sword was registered in 1951, the initial year that the current sword registration system started in Japan. Such swords, which were registered in a few years after the system started, are called \"Daimyo\" (feudal lord) registration swords as it was Daimyo or other Daimyo-like wealthy families who owned many precious swords and were asked by the Japanese government to register their swords in the early stage of the newly introduced registration system to familiarize it to the society. Accordingly, there are many precious swords in the Daimyo registration swords, and many collectors prefer them.
• The blade is finely polished and is in excellent condition.
• The blade is very well forged and has beautiful forging grains.
• Hamon temper lines are active and beautiful with Tobi-yaki jumping spots.
• Saya scabbard has nice Kojiri end cap.
• Menuki pegs has nicely designed Japanese family crest.
• Comes with Shirasaya plain fitting and Tsunagi temporary bamboo blade for good maintenance of the blade.

The blade is finely polished and is in excellent condition with some minor flaws and scratches, which are notfatal. Koshirae and Shirasaya mountings are in very good conditionwith normalwears seen in items of this age. Sold as-is.
