Dallmeyer Portrait / Telephoto, 1800\'s, 19th Century Antique, Early Field Camera Lens
An interesting and perhaps quite scarceDallmeyerplate camera lens from the mid 19th century, which may be of interest to collectors.
This may be one of the early editions of this type, being marked No.56713, perhaps circa1865 ? The experts amongst you will know, I\'m sure.
The lens controls all appear to be working as designed and the lens and its elements appear to be in very good order generally.
The lens comes in its own bespoke velvet lined soldered case, probably original, and is also housed in a wooden box with hinged lid and brass clasp.
The former and first owner of the lens was someone by the name of Sir Richard Harington, enthusiasts may be able to research the name.

Update - Tuesday 21st Feb.
I have been asked by an er to take the lens to bits and to photograph and describe the condition of the individual lens elements.
I have done this today and although I can\'t add extra photos of the various lens components (because there isn\'t an option to remove some of the original photos and add new ones), I have carefully dismantled and inspected the elements and can happily report that all of them seem to me to be completely faultless with no dust, dirt, haze or fungus present anywhere.
Furthermore, the internal iris looks like I imagine it would have done when it left the Dallmeyer workshop in the 19th century, it really looks like new.
Overall, the lens internals are in extremely good, un-worn condition and I\'d be very surprised if this lens has had any use at all.
If anyone would like to see internal photos let me know and I could perhaps attach them to an message.
