For sale is an unmarked lantern with JHI (John Irwin) and Pat. Feb. 1, 1870 on wick raiser knob. Patent date on lantern ranges from 1867 to 1877. This lantern may be pre-Dietz. It also has a blow out hole on the side tube and no filler hole on fount. very few dents and dings, condition of lantern looks pretty good for being so old.
