This railroad lantern is a Dietz XLCR model. It is a bellbottom and is not marked for any railroad. The underside of the bell shows the patent dates, the latest of which is from 1910. The twist off bellbottom attaches and removes easily and fits up tightly. The frame needs a good cleaning. The metal has no dents, no rusty areas and looks as though there is lots of bright metal left to uncover! The fount has the correct Dietz Winglock burner.
The globeis 5 and 3/8 in tall and has the Cnx hallmark cast on the reverse near the top. Burlington Route is cast inside a round cornered (I have seen these with 90 degree square corners) square panel. The globe is crystal clear and has no cracks, no chips or cloudy areas. Some swirls and mold marks can be seen in the globe. The top and bottom rims show signs of normal railroad service.
