DIVINE DECO 30s PINK SILK VELVET Robe,Bishop Sleeves,Full Sweep,Henri Bendel NY
Price: US $152.50
An Oh SO SO YUMMY, very vintage, Art Deco era silk velvet hostess gown or evening robe. So beautiful you could wear this as an evening gown or wrap. Dates from the very early 1930s, and is made of that delicious and sumptuous silk velvet that has a wonderful feel and fabulous drape. The COLOR is the crowning star on this garment, it is a rich and deep yet dusky, dark rose pink...hard to get the color right in these photos...it is a rich deep reddish pink or brick pink, but not bright or vibrant...a lovely \"antique\" color. The velvet is a rare \"striated\" velvet, and is not wrinkled, that is how the velvet was intended and made, with purposeful shadow lines for a great effect. Slinky silhouette hugs every curve, and look at those deep and wide balloon or bishop SLEEVES! Long sleeves have a deep cuff with 4 working silk velvet buttons, and the garment wraps around and there are 4 side velvet buttons for closure, as well as a hook and eye inside for a custom fit. Long and full sweep on the hem for a graceful entrance and exit. Shawl collar. Label is HENRI BENDEL, New York. This was very expensive when new, and is probably French imported or a French adaption. More details below.

I have a LOW RESERVE on this scarce and beautiful garment.

Henri Bendel was one of THE finest department stores in Manhattan, and they were known for their exclusive Paris imports, even having access to French Haute Couture, and they had in house seamstresses (or brought them over from Paris) to adapt and copy French designer originals. Their clothing was very very expensive. This is a scarce and wonderful silk velvet robe that will be a star in your collection.

Very Nice, a few flaws, but really very good, please read all details and see all photos.

MORE DETAILS: Measurements: All measurements are approximate but close, as this is a wrap style robe and can be adjusted somewhat due to the styling. All measurements are taken on the outside of the garment, laying flat, with the buttons closed and the lapels gently touching. . Length from shoulder line to hem is 57 1/2\". Hem sweep is 104\". Bust is approximate, as this is a wrap style, but I measured 12\" down from the shoulder line, just below the underarms and across, and got 42\". There is no defined waist. I measured with below the bottom velvet button, about 20\" down from the shoulder line, and that measurement is approx. 38\" with the robe closed. Shoulders, 17\" seam to seam. The sleeves, measured along the top of the curve, are 27\" with a narrowing buttoned cuff.

The label is an ivory silk crepe, with gold/yellow script lettering embroidered with the name. It is faded a bit, and did not photograph well, but you can see the name very clearly up close.

In this next photo I show the narrow line of soiling that is along parts of the edge of the hem. This will likely come out with a dry cleaning or hand cleaning, but I have not dry cleaned this. Not really noticed when you are wearing this.
