On offer is a stunning early 19th century wool work picture of a nativity scene possibly by Mary Linwood the famous Regency needlework genius famous for wool work renditions of classic paintings plus her wool work portraits of Royalty and Napolean. The information to the rear obviously cannot be used as an attribution but there must have been a reasonable hunch for the owner to bother affixing information of Linwood and her legacy. The work, however, is of an excellent quality and there are some hallmarks of Linwood\'s style. The archive also points to Linwood undertaking numerous nativity andreligiousscenes. Bought at a general sale sale in Plymouth a few years ago so there is where the provenance ends i\'m afraid. An impressive piece nonetheless. Would lookgreatback on the wall where it belongs - especially at Christmas!
