Early ~ H.L. Leonard ~ Catskill Bamboo Fly Rod 9\'(3/2) Bag ~ Tube
Price: US $299.00

Here is an early vintage 9\'(3/2) H. L. Leonard Catskill bamboo fly rod. The rod has a few issues so please read entire description. The rod has the Leonard marking on the butt cap but is faint especially on the right side. There is also the 1875/78 patent marking on the top of the female ferrule but I didn\'t photograph it. Three sections measure 36 1/2\" and the extra tip is down 1/2\" measuring 36\". The three sections weigh 4 ounces on my postal scale. All four sections are straight with the tips having very mild sets. The German silver ferrules fit together well with a nice pop when pulled apart and there is no clicking at the ferrules. The cedar reel seat is in good condition with some varnish chippingat the reel pocket. The butt cap has 2 small dents, which I show one of them in the last photo. The cork handle has general wear and soiled but there are nochips out of it. All the English style snake guides are in excellent shape with no rust and are tight. There are 2 issues with the bamboo. The first being on the middle of thebutt section where the original varnish has been removed between two intermediate wraps showing a 1/2\" sliver of bamboo missing.(See Photo 10) That areahas since beenvarnished. The second is a repair wrap on the full length tipabout half way up possibly from a hook dig but it doesn\'t affect the flexing of the tip and it is strong. (See Photo 11) The overall varnish is in fair condition with chips, rubs, crazingand some bag marks on the butt section. It looks to me that all the wraps are original but the rod must have had alight varnish overcoatat some point. The rod has abag without the hanging tag and also has a small hole at the bottom of the butt section, otherwise in very good condition. I\'m not sure the tube is originalbecause it is an inch longer than it should be measuring 38\". The brass capped aluminumtube also has two dents which you can see in third photo. Shipping will be USPS Priority with full insurance packed in a strong tube. Please see photos for condition and message me any questions and comments.

I had to resubmit my description again because in some cases, it was not showing up at all. The description has not been changed at all. It is just the same description twice. Thanks
