An original Egypt (Republic) Commander\'s neck badge of the Order of the Nile. Missing its top vertical bar through which the ribbon runs, but all other parts including .Measuring 65 mm wide by 95 mm high. Enamel is in extremely fine condition. The Order itself is made of silver-gilt and enamel. The Order of the Nile was established in 1915 by Sultan Hussein Kamil. It was a reward for services to the Throne or the welfare of Egypt and could be awarded for both civil or military service to foreigners or natives. In 1953, the Order changed under the new Republic and saw the removal of the Crown. This Commander\'s neck badge grade with the crown, dating it to approximately the 1940\'s or earlier. The central medallion has an Arabic inscription which translates to \"What Benefits Egypt Owes to the Nile, Her source of Prosperity and Happiness.
