A splendid 1870’s three piecesage green silk bustle dress that has recently been de-accessioned from amuseum collection. The bodice has acenter back peplum. The neck and armscyesare piped. The hemline has double rowsof padded cording. The sleeve cuffshave two rows of double pleating. The bodice is lined with cotton and has afront button closure. The over skirt has a long bustled back and is trimmedwith gold silk fringe. The overskirt isunlined. The under skirt has a wideflounced hemline and a long back sweep.It is fully lined with cotton. The dress is in good display onlycondition. The bodice has mild underarmdiscoloration and a thumb size spot on the front hemline. The over skirt has repairs at the waistline,two three inch water marks and a couple of tiny splits. The under skirt waistband is mostly missingbut the pleating is intact, so it can be displayed easily. There is a wide watermark on the edge ofthe flounce that can be seen in the photos and one at the back that is hiddenunder the flounce.
