This Victorian teapot is of Aladdin\'s lamp form with an attractive shape and top quality flush hinge. It has a silver handle with heat insulators and silver finial. The teapot is in excellent original condition and is clean to the inside.
An interesting feature of this teapot are the York hallmarks. The teapot was made in the final decade of the York Assay Office when far fewer pieces were passing through and so makes this piece rather scarce. The town mark is not punched, as was often the case on later pieces and there is no leopard\'s head crowned markeither (as also shown in Jackson\'s). The maker\'s mark is shown in \"York Assay Offices & Silvermiths 1776-1858\"by Martin Gubbins - see final photo.
This is a really fine piece that just feels wonderful to hold, is beautiful to look at and pours well. Highly recommended!
