ENGLISH STERLING SILVER Antique INK WELL & SWISS CLOCK ~ CIRCA 1858 Victorian
Price: US $237.50
Offered here is a very old, antique sterling silver English inkwell with an inset swiss clock in the lid. There is beautiful sterling detailing around the edge of the clock. The ink well is rather large measuring 2 1/2\" tall with a 4 1/4\" bottom diameter and 2\" topdiameter. The inkwell is clearly marked with the English lion passant mark for sterling silver, the anchor mark for the city of Birmingham, England, the mark of maker A.J. Zimmerman, and a date mark of 1858.
The inkwell itself is in overall good condition with only some very small, slight dings. The lid opens and closes as it should. The inside of the inkwell does not have a glass lining, and it may have come with one originally. Also, there is no glass cover for the clock face. I do not know if the clock is working or could be serviced so it would work. I turned one of the handles on the back of the clock and it moved the hands of the clock. So, I do know the hands of the clock function properly. The inkwell could easily be restored, and is a gorgeous antique desk collectible.

I made a mistake on the date mark. It is not 1858. The date mark is for 1933. I apologize for the error!!
