We are pleased to offer this set of 1810 Sir Henry Dundas, 1st Viscount, Mellville chamber candlesticks.

Bearing his crest and motto.

Born 1742. Keeper of the Privy Seal & Signet. Instrumental in Britain taking over India. His estate now home office Royal Bank Scotland.

Almost total control of Scottish politics in the late 18th century.

The crest a crowned lion in thickets. Believed derived from a Dundas ancestor languishing in Saracen dungeon. He was prompted to escape after watching resourceful lion in thickets.

Motto \"Try\".

The set from the well listed London shop of William Eaton in 1810.

Unique raised leaf crowned eight petal circular drip pan.

Original hallmarked nozzle and conical extinguisher. The later with unusually robust globe finial.

Feathered acanthus cap ring handle.

All three pieces with matching hallmarks and crested.

Sir Henry Dundas chamber sticks are 6 1/2 inches handle to edge and the set is 22 standard ounces.

Fully hallmarked to base and nozzle and the original conical extinguishers.

In excellent condition. Rich, lustreous sterling patina throughout. Stand even on table. Nozzles well fit. The Dundas clan crest retains much of its detail. Few tiny dints and mild scuffs, visible in images
