Ernest Borel Clock/Watch Travel Alarm, \"Versailles\" Model, runs & alarms
This Ernest Borel pocket watch / 8 day alarm clock is a beautiful piece made in Switzerland in the 1960\'s or 1970’s as a travel alarm clock in the shape of a Louis XIV clock. This large, detailed piece measures 2-3/4\" in diameter and 1-1/4\" in thickness including the crystal.
The 15 jewel movement is an 8 day alarm and is set into a yellow gold plated case stamped \"Ernest Borel & Co SA, Swiss Made\" with case no. \"518699 732001\" on the inside of the back case.
The large round dial is signed Ernest Borel Versaillesand features large black Roman numerals on white enamel cut outs, giving the appearance of cartouches. They are set on a golden background and filigree pattern. There is no crazing/cracking in the enamels. It has fancy French style hands.
This clock runs and keeps good time. The alarm functions correctly and works like this: turn the alarm hand to the desired time, then wind the alarm spring. Winding the alarm spring simultaneously raises the lever at the top of the movement and raises the button in the stem. Pushing down on the button turns off the alarm.
There is minor wear on the backside of the case where it was laid down rather than being hung on the support rack, but the wear is very minor.
