Here for your consideration is an Excellent ART DECO –Machine Age 1938 Truetone D731 Five Tube Radio made by Belmont for Truetone and sold in Western Auto stores. It is in good working condition. This has a nice Bakelite sheen, and would really POP with a polish and shine. I’ll leave that up to you.
This hard to find 11” x 6” x 7.5” radio has no cracks or chips, and has its original back and bottom label. The dial has shrunk slightly and pulled away from one side. No big deal, but I like to note. The radio looks great including the step top, wrap around grille, and side tuning knob. The pushbuttons will need to be set to your location. It looks awesome with the dial lit at night.
I think I took it to my Tech Friend Tom, but I can’t find the slip. I picked up a number of stations across the dial using its own string antenna. This is truly an eye catching set. My son says it is time for a new owner to enjoy it, so here you go. You’d be hard pressed to find a better one. Good Luck, Radioorphanage !!

I\'ve been asked questions about this Beautiful Radio, so I am adding some pictures. First, I\'d state that this radio is a 79 years old piece of History. It is not a brand new Bose System. If you are expecting a new Bose System instead of an extremely well taken care of, working 79 year old piece of History, please don\'t offer. As you can se from the pictures, some repair work (capacitors)has been done. This must have been done by the previous owner, as it is not the work of my Tech friend Tom. That said, the chassis and interior of the radio are very clean, and the radio works. The push buttons show some deterioration, and one is chipped on the bottom(pictures). These could be cleaned up, and Repros are available if you prefer. This all said, you would be very hard pressed to come up with a cleaner, better 79 year old set at any price.
