Mr. Vermeer is literally a famous figure when it comes to Chinese ceramics starting his career in the late 1960s in his early 20s. With close to 50 years experience Mr. Vermeer was thought by many to be one of the worlds top Chinese ceramic experts and authorities. Celadon, Monochrome, and Flambe wares were Mr. Vermeer’s passion and over the years Mr. Vermeer was commissioned by top world museums and sale houses to appraise and accurately identify important works of Chinese art. Examples from the Vermeer collection can be found in top collections, sold at top sale houses, and in books all over the world. This is session one featuring some incredible and rarely found examples from the Vermeer’s collection. I believe this is one of our finest sales to date. You very rarely see estate collections of this amazing quality and size come up for sale, a sale not to be missed!

Up for sale is a truly exceptional and extremely rare 12th century Chinese Song Dynasty longquan celadon glazed scholars brush washer dish. This dish is a superb choice period example that is absolutely and fully guaranteed to be an authentic Song dynasty period example.
This dish has a fine and noted period scholars brush washer dish form. This dish has one of the the most beautiful and amazing vibrant icy bluish-green longquan celadon glazed I have personally ever seen. If your look at the last pictures I took a close-up with other fine period celadon wares just to show how amazing and beautiful this particular dishes glaze is. I believe this superb glaze would put this dish is a high end advance collector’s category and this dish is something that is very rarely found. Not only that but this dish is also superbly potted and nice and round with no more than a “mm” in variance around the outer rim measurements. The dish also sits perfectly flush, basically a perfectly potted period example. The dish has no chips, cracks, repairs. The dish has glaze wear to the interior as seen from what appears to be many years of authentic use likely by a period scholar. The dish could use a light cleaning but we like to leave everything in untouched original “estate fresh” condition. This dish has also been closely inspected under UV black light that reveals absolutely no damage or repairs of any kind. The dish also has a very finely carved and formed footrim, exactly what one wants and should see. The dish has an old Christies sale label where I am told it was purchased a number of decades ago. It also has some faint illegible numbers likely collection of museum inventory numbers. The dish measures 5 1/2 inches wide, by 1 3/4 inches tall.
Usually such choice, or advance collector examples like this would be reserved for a high-end sale venue with their high estates and reserves, and crazy large buyer’s premiums. But we like to offer All our items to our customers on . I was able to find a couple comparable examples that recently sold, as seen. However, if you look at the close-ups of these examples you will find they are not potted as fine, and do not have the same bright and vibrant color as this choice example. Basically in my opinion this is much finer than both of these that sold. So what would this piece achieve in the right venue, I believe one may be presently surprised with the result. I am confident in saying this is likely one of the finest examples of Song dynasty celadon wares that has ever been offered on . To be perfectly clear as my sales have run for over 10 years saleing online this exceptionally rare and beautiful washer dish will be sold to the highest buyer with Absolutely .
