I am selling off my entire antique lace collection which I have amassed over 40 years. I have never offered any of this lace for sale previously. Time to let it go as I have realized that I will never put it to use and can no longer store it in the manner in which it deserves. My VERY BEST antique French lace medallions. There is a set of 8 of these. Late Victorian era, in very good, clean condition. There is a mix of laces here, with the ruffled outer edges being a Brussels lace in pure silk. I think it is also Point de Gaze, not sure. Breathtakingly beautiful workmanship. The Brussels lace appears to be hand made. These are a creamy French vanilla color, not yellowed, I think this is the original color, perhaps with a bit of a lovely patina. There are 8 of these, in 2 slightly different patterns on the ruffled edges of silk lace....the inside is the same on all.....4 of each size and pattern. There is still small bits of charming French silk velvet ribbons attached to some of these, in a pale duck egg blue color. The inner pattern looks like bunches of grapes, or berries, etc. These came from items from a 5 generation bridal trousseau trunk, in which generations of brides kept their dresses and wedding mementos for later generations of the same family to be passed down to for their wedding days. This would look wonderful for a bride of any era, from Victorian to Edwardian, to the Great Gatsby era, or to the modern bride who wants to add true antique charm to her special day. Of course, it is a beautiful lace for any purpose, dolls, millinery, or just to display and love. . Well preserved, overall excellent and not fragile or dry. They handled well while I took the photos.

I could not quite capture the gorgeous color of these. They are a soft ivory color, a pale cream, and are the exact same color as the silk wedding gown from which they came. On a few of them, there are remnants of the silk gown in back, which I left for you. It can be removed and the lace will be more sheer. I have a few small scraps bits of the silk bridal gown and will include that if you feel you can use it. This sale is for ALL 8 medallions, and this is all I have.

MEASUREMENTS: There are 2 slightly different patterns on these, with 4 of each pattern. The first and slightly larger medallions each measure 8 1/4\" tall by 7 1/2\" wide and the outer silk lace ruffle is slightly wider. The other 4 measures 7 1/2\" by 6 3/4\".

CONDITION....Near Excellent. Amazingly well preserved. Fresh feeling, not dry or brittle, only 1 of the medallions has a tiny tear, the rest are excellent. No soiling or wear. PLEASE SEE THE PHOTOS as they are part of the description.
