I do not know too much about this album. Maybe someone out there can tell me more. It was found amongst my grandfathers stuff. He was a WWII Veteran. He served in the South Pacific. Fifty pages of what I would describe as some of the most astounding photos I have ever seen. It starts with photos of marine cemeteries in what I think is Japan. The next six or so pages are what appear to be island native life on some islands in the South Pacific. Many native people doing everyday things. Wearing grass skirts, sailing small boats, fishing, ceremonies. The next six pages are of ships, and troop carries coming ashore. The next eight pages are what looks like the aftermath of battles on an island, maybe Japan? There is one showing the monument to \"Ernie Pyle\" where he died. Many gruesome photos of dead Japanese soldiers. Some GI\'s holding a captured Japanese flags. Bombed out building that appear to be Japanese style structures. The next few pages show downed aircraft, tanks, officers coming to see troops. Many photos of Japanese troops in what appear to be captured formations. Some in dress uniforms. Others in more ragged looking uniforms. Some are in what look to be some typ of parade formation.

Then there is a few photos of what I think is a general signing some documents at a table. Seems to be some sort of formal ceremony. Then there is about ten pages of what I think is China. I think one of the photos is a part of the Great Wall. There are a lot of Asian buildings and temples. The last two pages are the only ones with any color. They are what I would call \"pinup\" style photos, but of Japanese women. They seem to be color enhanced, for lack of a better way to describe them.

I know I probably haven\'t even come close to describing this as what it really is. I hope someone out there can tell me more than this about it. I just feel like it is something more significant that what I am telling you. I know I have never seen anything like it on before.

The album is in good condition for its age, but shows some wear along the binding edge of the boards. The photos are in excellent condition, though some have minor fading. It\'s 10 inches by 13 inches. And contains hundreds of photos.
