READ INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE offerDINGPLEASE READ INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE offerDINGPLEASE READ INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE offerDING LOCAL PICKUP ONLY LOCAL PICKUP ONLY LOCAL PICKUP ONLYPLEASE READ INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE offerDING I describe this AWESOMEitem please note that this is for Local Pickup ONLY.....\'YES\'.,you can send a moving company to pick it up for you or youcan pick it up on myEXTENSIVEresearch(my research on the internet) this vintage Crouse Hinds Traffic Light can be from the 1930\'s-1940\'s. It has not been easyresearching this Type: TSW 443/Cat No. 42592,so please do your own research BEFORE offerDING as I might be wrong on some statements.Based on what I read on the internet from Traffic Light Professionals, this Traffic Light is a TYPE \"D\" (NOT \"DT\" TYPE). Its been said that on December1,1936 the Crouse Hinds catalog showed a new type D design that incorporated a full size door that had a braided cotton seal, the lens was held by four clipsand a cork gasket sealed the space between the lens and the door also seal the space between the lens and the reflector. This particular traffic light has ALL what I just stated above and that iswhyI\'m listing it as a TYPE\"D\".After a whole week ofEXTENSIVE research,I CAN NOT find this same TYPE: TSW 443 anywhere in the internet and that is why I also have it listed asEXTREMELY RARE.As you can see on the photos it has a plate on the bottom that says CROUSE HINDS CO. SYRACUSE N.Y. TRAFFIC SIGNAL TYPE: CAT NO.TSW 443 42592
Its been said that the color of this traffic light is HUNTER GREEN. The color of this traffic light is definitively green but is peeling off(I\'m assuming becauseof being old and weather). If you are HERE reading this you definitely know more than me on traffic lights, but one thing I do know isthat this particular traffic light is SUPER,SUPER,SUPER RARE and I\'m assuming very collectible to some of you as it basically DOES NOT exist on the internet(based on my research).
I only saw 1(a similar one) on video on the internet but they don\'t say if it is a TSW 443 Type. I have done NOTHING to this traffic light and it is beingsaleED as found. Previous owner said that he had it in his possession for the last 30 years and that he bought it from a man that said that this light camefrom a Dallas,Tx Suburb(back then in the middle of nowhere).
It comes with only4 red lenses(the oldlarge bead smiley lenses) and 2 yellow lenses. One red lense is broken in half. Its missing 2 glass reflectors and 1 aluminum casing. All doors lock. There is little damage to the bottom(as you can see in the photos) and just typical wear from use and weather.
only allows 12 photos,so if you have any concerns ANY QUESTIONS,please ask BEFORE offerDING as this AWESOME traffic light is beingsaleED/SOLD AS-IS with NO PARTIAL REFUNDS OR RETURNS>>>>>SALE IS FINAL<<<<<.
NOTE: I AM NOT an expert on traffic lights and this is all I know about this particular Crouse-Hinds TYPE: TSW443Traffic Signal HAVE NOT SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS GO FOR SALE OR sale HERE ON OR ANYWHERE ON THE INTERNET AND I TRULYBELIEVE THAT WHAT I HAVE HERE IS VERY UNIQUE. This particular traffic light has the N,S,E,and W on topand I believe that it is also called\"ART DECO\".
Good Luck and Happy offerding.
P.s. What you see is what you will receiving. It weights almost 100 pounds and it is approximately 51 inches tall(not countingbrass/copper hanger). With hanger its about 56 inches tall.PLEASE SUPERSIZE THE LISTING IMAGES TO VIEW THE CONDITION IN DETAIL...PLEASE LOOK AT THE PHOTOS AND JUDGE THE CONDITION FOR Date: SUNDAY JUNE 19.2016. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: I received an email by an member stating that this is either a type D or a type DT and the best way to tell would be bypostingphotos with the doors open of the inside reflectors(they are silver)....they look silver to me.I was alsotold by this person that there is no such thing as TSW-443,it\'s just the casting number and that is why my extensive research was leading me nowhere. He stated that he\'s guessing that the 3 top sections are type D reflector frames and that the bottom should be a DT frame,as cities modified 3 section 4 ways into4 section 4 ways in the 50\'s-60\'s by adding an extra section. And he also stated that it is in fact a very nice signal.
I deleated 3 photos and added 3 photos of the inside as requested by this member, but I have to tell you that all 4 frames-all FOUR frames-are the same,as it has the same HL-P918 type number embossed into the cast aluminum as you can see in the photos. My question is? If this professional traffic light person believes that the bottom frame is a DT and believes that it was added 10/20/30 years later, then why 10/20/30years later is the bottom frame has the sameType HL-P918 and not a DT frame as stated by this person?
I still believe that this traffic light is EXTREMELY RARE\'SPECIAL\' and I think more special now thatI know that the bottom frame is the same as the top 3.If the top 3 sections are type D,then I\'m assuming that this whole traffic light is a type D.
Good Luck and Happy Date : MONDAY JUNE 20,2016.
I just received another email but first: As stated above in the listing this traffic light comes with 4 red lenses(one is broken in half) and 2 yellow ones, for a total of6 lenses. There are no greens or lenses with arrows, just 6 lenses(4 reds and 2 yellow).
Regarding the emails: One member states that this is definitely a Type D as all the reflectors frames shown are the cast Type D kind. He further states that Type D signals are notrare as they were widely distributed across the country in the 30\'s and 40\'s but just a small percentage of the original number still survive on streets today. He alsostates that, that said,is still very special and that it is a beautiful piece.
I respect every single statement(email) that I receive from all of you as you all definitely have more knowledge than me on traffic lights.Just wondering; Why is a true collector(I saw it on the internet),that has been collecting from the year 1980...why does he consider his4 way Type D traffic light to be his prize possession? If this traffic light doesn\'t meet the reserve, there is a possibility that I might just re-list it again and sell it as BUY IT NOW. How much? Depending on how thesale ends and the offers that I have received. Please offer with confidence as I truly think that this traffic ligte is worth more than the reserve.
Good Luck and Happy offerding.
