FINE AUTHENTIC OLD NORTHWEST COAST HAIDA ARGILLITE FIGURAL FEAST BOWL c1930
Price: US $597.00

We have decided to offer a few special Haida pieces from our collection this week, all with .

A fine rare old genuine Northwest Coast Haida argillite figural feast bowl dating from the early to mid 1900\'s. The bowl is finely carved and deeply hollowed out and depicts a swimming seal. The totem is the work of a very accomplished early to mid 20th century carver and possibly the work of Charles Gladstone (1878-1954). Figural argillite bowls are very rare from this period as most were produced in the mid to late 1800\'s and only a few carvers from this period would have had the knowledge of the old ways to execute a work such as this. The bowl is carved from a nice heavy piece of argillite and measures 5 1/2\" long x 3\" w and 2 1/2\" tall and is in excellent condition. It is unsigned and unmarked as would be expected from the age of creation. This museum quality bowl is fully guaranteed to be 100 % real argillite, hand carved and old . Argillite is the slate black rock that is only found in the Queen Charlotte Islands of British Columbia and all known reserves are the sole and closely guarded property of the Haida tribe. This museum quality bowl will make a great display item and a fine addition to anyone\'s collection, being sold with . Please add $9.95 for careful shipping and insurance (USA). Good Luck and Happy offerding. We\'ll be happy to combine shipping if feasible. Please check out other current offerings including a great Tlingit and Kwakiutl totem poles , Salish and Makah baskets and some great early Inuit carvings. Please email us for more specifics and links to our website. Please note we are usually only able to ship items out one day a week mostly Thursdays and Fridays.
