Fine Scarce Antique REDWARE JUG Pumpkin Yellow Copper Manganese Glazes Ovoid N/R
Price: US $80.99
Striking and unusual antique redware jug or bottle, of shaped ovoid handleless form with slender cylindrical neck, slightly flaring lip with distinctive drip ledge, finished in a rich pumpkin-colored glaze with green copper drips and a few streaks of reddish brown manganese, approx. 10” tall overall. Scattered surface “pocks” to glaze (not affecting body underneath, and mostly quite small; the largest about the size of a dime), and a few tiny, unobtrusive chips around base and lip (again, mostly affecting glaze), otherwise fine, attractive condition, with a beautiful, richly patinated surface.

Originally found in Pennsylvania, and possibly of nearby origin, or perhaps from the American South.

See my other sales for an additional example of redware.

PAYMENT/SHIPPING: Successful U.S. buyer pays for carefully packed Parcel Select shipping (international buyers: inquire for rates); PayPal. Please see my other sales for rare and vintage books, historical and advertising ephemera, photos, artwork, and mid-century design.
