Inside it has its original interior gilding and it weighs 44 grams. There are no added personal engraved crests or monograms. A very rare early dated silver snuff box, the earliest hallmarked example I have ever had.

Date English antique early 18th Century George II solid sterling silver with a full set of English silver hallmarks forLondon 1747(date letter \"m\"). Marks includes an early lion passant/gardant stamp and the crowned leopards head stamp. No duty as made well before the silver duty act.

MakerSilversmiths initials \"R.C\", for London maker Robert Albin Cox - (1740-1752), part struck on the box and on the lid.

ConditionGood antique condition, there areno solder repairs, definitely no wear holes and no nasty knocks or dents, just minor little surface bruises. Small age split in the embossed decoration, (see photos), nothing at all bad and it has a double skin silver lid so there are no wear holes showing through. The silver hinged lid worksperfectly and opens and closes tightly and the interior gilding is all original and much of it is still intact, some age-related wear. Superb very early datedEnglish silver box and with no added personal engraved crests or monograms.

A CenturyGeorge IIsolid sterling silversnuff box. A very good investment piece, as these are virtually impossible to find with silver hallmarks.
