We are also often given the honor of selling fine and rarepieces for other collectors.Found in a carriage house in Brooklyn, lovingly and carefully stored in a boxentitled “Grandmother’s Hallowe\'en Party Decorations, 1926”, these FRIGHTfullyfabulous decorations are all that remain from this party after our several weeks oflisting. Included here is Grandmother’s WICKEDLY wonderful crepe paper and cardboard fan,with its outstanding small German witch diecut attached. This fan has lots ofcrepe paper fringe festooning and measures 13” tall counting the handle. The black witchstands against a metallic silver moon. Some of the silver has been lost, and on the backside the silver moon has a tear and some clear tape attaching it. I pictureyoung Grandmother, fanning herself, perhaps after an energetic dance......the Charleston perhaps?......with a beau. Did she fall in love with him and that is why she kept absolutely everything from this magnificent party?The lantern was produced by the Beistle Company in the USA. This piece doesretain its original bottom, which has its never-used, un-bent metalcandleholder. This is one of Beistle’s smaller lanterns measuring 6 ½” high.These awesome lanterns look so beguiling when illuminated with battery-operatedflickering tea candles. This lantern has no handle, has several creases, and somesurface loss but surprisingly the orange crepe paper is in excellent, bright conditionwith only a few miniscule holes. The PURRRfectly wonderful diecut decoration was produced by Dennison in theUSA, and it has that mark on the back side. This is Dennison’s \"Dazed andConfused Cat\", also known as the Drunken Kitty. This piece stands 8 ¾” high x 5 ¾”wide. It does have a light crease, some pin holes at the top and a smallsurface lift there as well. This piece is without fading and displaysBOOOtifully. It has been my pleasure over the past few weeks to offer Grandmother’s beloved, cherished keepsakes. I think these three, from the Roarin’ 1920s, would make idealacquisitions for anyone who loves interesting Hallowe\'en memorabilia,especially those SO sentimentally saved.
