GEM PROOF LIBERTAS AMERICANA GOLD MEDAL – PARIS MINT RESTRIKE

Offered in this sale is a 40mm modern restrike of the Libertas Americana medal containing 43 grams of .999 Gold, and issued by the Monnaie de Paris. Restrike is a low number 66 of a total mintage of 1776. The high relief design features the renowned bust of Liberty facing left, LIBERTAS AMERICANA above, 4 JUIL. 1776 in exergue. The reverse has a female warrior protecting an infant from an attacking lion, with the words NON SINE DIIS ANIMOSUS INFANS. above, 17/19 OCT. 1777/1781 in exergue, signifying the victories at Yorktown and Saratoga. Edge of medal reads 0066/1776 whichmatches the strike and mintage on the Certificate of Authenticity. This uncertified gem cameo proof in Mint conditioncontains 1.376 troy ounces of pure gold, comes sealedwith the original plastic capsule, original MONAIE DE PARIS blue suede presentation box, and original Certificate of Authenticity which states “The signature of Dov ZERAH Mintmaster of Monnaie de Paris certifies this historic medal to be officially and expertly re-struck by the French Mint.”
