Gorgeous maker marked 1958 Ray Sandoval silver inlaid Vaquero SPADE BIT nt spurs
Price: US $386.03
This is a beautiful old loose cheek spade bit made by Ray Sandoval, and it is perfect in every way.
He made the bit in 1958 or 1959.
He could not quite remember which year it was, and since he is 90 years old, he is to be forgiven for a tiny memory lapse.
Ray Sandoval is still in his shop every day doing what he loves...making bits and spurs.
I have an email from his son Michael authenticating the bit which I will gladly print off and sendto the buyer with the bit if you want it.
You just don\'t find a bit like this every day. It was built to last and to use, and it has indeed been used, but it has been well cared for too.
And just look at that spectacular rawhide braided chinstrap and its knockout buttons! It too, was made in that same era, and it has that lovely yellowy - brown patina that only time and use can make.
Even the buttons on the end of the mouth bar and the braces are Sterling with a heavy black patina.
You\'re buying a piece of Santa Ynez Californio history here.
How often do you get that chance?
Mouth is just under 5 & 1/4\"
Cheeks are 7\"
SHIPPING: Will be 14.00 via USPSpriority insured
PAYMENT: is always at the pleasure of the buyer but I do take paypal.
Thanks very much. Ask questions and happy offerding!
