~ 1942 PRE WAR TRUETONE (Belmont) \"CORONET\" BAKELITE TUBE RADIO ~

I\'m very pleased to offer this outstanding 1942 Truetone, Model D1015 from the Radio-Cafe,fully restored inside & out! For my own taste in bakelite design, there\'s no better radio that conveys elegance and class than the Truetone D1015. From any angle it\'s a real beauty to look at with its large colorful \"spiderweb\" foil prism dial scale, left/right highly pronounced fin louvers, classic bottom skirting, and a nicely curved top with rounded edges to top it off. There\'s 15 individual pics taken for your viewing pleasure of the complete restoration, cosmetically & electronically.

For those of you who collect radios, just one look and it\'s obvious this gem is a Belmont design made for Truetone to be sold at Western Auto stores. In fact the design of this model was so unique and popular they made a reproduction set many years later with a built-in tape deck. This example of course is an original gem that I\'ve had in my backlog for about a year now just waiting for original parts to complete. This is my 3rd D1015 I\'ve restored in the last 25 years and the best one yet! The gorgeous liquid swirl bakelite cabinet is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks and with the restored electronics, it plays great with excellent reception using the 5ft included wire antenna in the back. The original gumball style bakelite knobs are in excellent condition with no flaws and the left volume knob has a molded dot on it for setting the volume where you want.

The heavily swirled bakelitecabinet has been professionally polished with my ALL natural process using NO car polish wet look tricks,caked on junk,sprays, poly coats,saturation tactics to make the bakelite appear darker,or any other artificial enhancers. My photos represent the accurate bakelite color in different lighting with NO software touch ups!It takes many hours through several stages to complete this natural process but when it\'s all said and done what you get is a pure natural bakelite shine just how it looked from the factory. I go the extra mile and make sure every square inch is cleaned using special hand-made pic tools, toothbrushes, and Q-tips(no black sharpie marker tricks used here folks). I\'ve been doing natural bakelite polishing the same way for 20 years now and do notcut corners or take short cuts with my cleaning & polishing method.. nothing but lots of time and plenty of elbow grease.

Keep in mind, this antique vacuum tube radio is not a boom box,solid state radio,or any other modern type radio. It uses vacuum tube technology which can produce audio interference caused by many different things such as florescent lighting, energy saving bulbs,kitchen appliances,etc,etc... so placement of the radio is very important to avoid any possible audio interference. And like many other electronic devices,.. when not in use the radio should be unplugged to prevent any damage during electrical storms.
