Rare Madame Alexander Belle Of the Ball Cissy from 1960
Referred to by collectors as “Lilac Cissy” here is the dollMadame Alexander called “Belle of the Ball”. As you can see, she is anexquisite example of the Portrait genre.
Cissy’s auburn hair is done in an elaborateup-sweepand stillhas the original purple velvet bow. Her eyesare a deep blue and her mouth, eyebrows , and exaggerated eyelashes are lovely.
Lilac Cissy wears a tagged multi-layered formal gown of lilaccotton organdy overlayed with three layers of lilac tulle. The bodice is constructed in a V-neck designwith two small tucks.
Accenting the shoulders and cascading down the skirt are floralgarlands of small pink cabbage roses and tiny forget-me-nots.
Underneath, Lilac Cissy wears a pale pinknylon bridal crinoline slip. Volume iscreated with a 4 inch deep netted ruffle around the bottom edge.
Lilac Cissy wears “diamond” circle earrings, a pink pearlnecklace, a lovely “amethyst” ring, and lilac gauntlet evening gloves.
She is also wearing her original Madame Alexander panties,lavender heels, and nylons.
