P> This is my absolute favorite piece not just from the things I was able to purchase, but it was definitely in my top 5 in the sale itself for several reasons-it was the earliest piece of clothing in the entire sale, it is thought that she bought it in Turkey in 1924 while filming a movie (that ultimately wasn\'t made) but she kept it all those years-so it was more than a mere tourist purchase. The workmanship is remarkable-from the Forofferden stitching of the figural pieces, to that AMAZING pleating sewn by hand, to the real gold bouillon thread, and handmade ribbon edged in hand-rolled black piping-it is an extraordinary work of art. This is not a perfect piece, but it very much a one-of-a-kind piece, beyond belonging to Greta Garbo...this is special.
I have taken what I\'m sure is a million photos showing the issues of note, but please read the condition carefully for a better explanation of what you\'re looking at.
Condition: I deem this to be a collectible. While it could be worn, it is a very delicate piece and I\'d hate to see it destroyed when it would be such a spectacular display-particularly if it were professionally framed like you would an antique kimono or other textile. As you would expect, there is fading to the silk, and many of the threads holding the pleats are loose, or missing. The central medallion with the lame\' and figural embroidery is coming up on the edge with a little tearing. The hem is frayed, and there is a large brown spot of the inside waistband, and red color bleed on the outside of the waistband. Some spots...all as shown. For me it adds to the Antique beauty of the piece, but all is documented. If you want something that is perfect, this is clearly not for you. Again-this is a very special piece...and you\'ll never get another opportunity to find one like it-that I know for sure.
Greta Garbo pieces are rare-this piece, to me, is the rarest of them all.
