TheGTS Series Turning Centers provide superior mechanical advantages that equateto longer life, better performance and highly accurate machiningspecifications. The GTS 27 mm (1.062inch) gang tool, slant bed lathe is built with the most advanced machineconstruction technology offered in the industry today with features andflexibility unmatched in an affordable and sophisticated design.

Themodularity of the GTS allows it to be easily adapted to a wide variety ofmanufacturing applications. A wide rangeof options and accessories are available to accommodate most machiningrequirements such as, Live tooling, parts catchers, sawing, automated loadingsystems and an extensive array of tooling.

Theaccuracy and performance of the GTS is the result of its superior mechanicaladvantages. Every bearing surface ishand scraped for squareness, flatness and perpendicularity. The mechanical advantages are derivedprimarily from four key sources:

A massive polymer composite basewith a size to weight ratio unequalled in its field.

Anextremely rigid cross member carriage wherethe load

bearingmembers are always directly below the working tool.

A superiorspindle with integrated collet system.

Polymer Base

The polymer composition materialis superior to all other materials in dimensional and thermal stability, and ischemical and water resistant. It willnot grow like cast iron when subjected to hot chips. The one piece polymer base material is soundadsorbing and therefore does not radiate cutting noise.

It will not rust, warp, bendor bow due to stress relief.Consequently, the machine is capable of faster travels, better finishesand enhanced tool life. Acceleration /deceleration characteristics are also improved which is most important whenhigh speed machining small parts.

Polymer concrete is a compositematerial produced by mixing a variety of mineral fillers together with apolymer resin binding agent. Whencombined through a process of mixing, molding and curing, an extremely powerfulcross-linked bond is formed. The endresult is an ideal structure for a machine tool base.

Rigid Cross Member Carriage

The cross member carriage design incorporates a honeycombstructural configuration that is the optimum combination of lighter weight,stability, strength and rigidity. Thehoneycomb structure provides superior thermal stability, essentially eliminatesstress relief distortion, and dramatically reduces parasitic frequencyconduction for substantial noise reduction in machining originated noise whichproduces increased cutter stability, improved surface finish and better toollife. The positioning system featureshigh pre-load, low friction, four circuit, roller linear bearings and aprecision ground ball screw in a super precision thrust bearing set.

T-slots allow for the easy mounting of 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 8 position tool holders.

Advanced Spindle Performance

The high performance, 6,000 RPM spindle is a modularconfiguration that provides unsurpassed thermal stability, efficient heatdissipation and noise suppression.Internally, the superior design and construction continues with superprecision thrust bearing The collet closer is an integral part of thespindle and headstock for a most rigid, balanced system, higher RPM andbetter concentricity.

Precision Axis Positioning System

The positioning system features linear technology. High pre-load, minimal friction, four circuitroller bearings and a precision ground, maximum pre-load ball screw are mountedin a super-precision thrust bearing set. Axis drive motors are AC, brushlesstype designed to deliver maximum speed, performance and reliability. The servo amplifiers include an integratedpower supply accepting analog, digital or serial signal inputs. Exceptional high speed and smooth, low speedperformance is achieved, resulting from sinusoidal commutation via highresolution integrated encoders.Additionally, software enables parameter set-up, back-up and restorecapabilities via PC computer. Auto-tuning, advanced diagnostics and performance graphing functions are provided.
