The repairs and information in this book can be applied to many different case styles of Hammond clock. If you see the back side of your clock in the pictures abovethis book can help! The focus of this book is on the most common repairs: cleaning, oiling and replacing cords. Over 100 photographs show the jobs and procedures that you can easily and safely accomplish to maintain and increase the value of your Hammond clock collection. No special tools required for most of the repairs and maintenance shown in this book. This book covers how to identify and perform maintenance on Hammond synchronous clock motors in the two most common types, open rotor and sealed rotor. Most often these clocks simply need cleaning and fresh oil to continue running. You will be able to apply the procedures in this book to many styles of Hammond Clock because while the case styles are different, most Hammond clocks employ one of two types of motors, open rotor or sealed rotor synchronous. Another kind of Hammond motor is Bichronous, an early electric and spring driven clock motor, often marked as "Bichronous" on the case or motor. Bichronous clocks have springs under high tension and are more complex than the simple and common synchronous motor shown above. Repairs to Hammond Bichronous clocks are not covered in this book.
