Vintage HIRAM L. PIPER COMPANY Railroad lantern made for the CANADIAN PACIFIC RAILROAD (C.P.R.)
Adams-Westlake was the parent company to Hiram L. Piper for the Canadian railroad industry and that is why this lantern looks identical to an Adlake Kero lantern.
This railroad lantern comes with a stunning TEAL short globe!
This Hiram Piper lantern is in exemplary shape with just some minor oxidation in spots on the wire cage. The Adlake 300 burner contains a wick that turns freely. The bottom of thelantern is free of rust and it sits perfectly straight when placed on a surface. The bottom contains a drain hole. The bail can be locked into place to assist in signaling. The fuel pot is free of holes and rust and looks to be unfired. The gorgeous teal (blue-green) short globe is unmarked with no chips, scratches or cracks. The lantern itself stands true and possesses a niceaged-tin patina. The unique wooden handle is characteristic of Hiram Piper lanterns and the wood is in excellent shape given some wear to the original paint color.
