This sale is for the ORIGINAL World War Two United States 82nd Airborne Division Ike Jacket Grouping of Private Charles Estil Maupin of \"B\" Company, 325th Glider Infantry Regiment. This is One Instance where We Will Ask that You Please Examine All Photos Closely as they Tell a Very Large Portion of the Story. The Original Collector Has Been Very Adamant that He Obtained this Entire Grouping from the Veteran\'s Widow Some Years ago and Evidence of This, Including Photos Has Been Provided. The Evidence Consists of His Description of the Ike Jacket and Other Items in Which He States Every Aspect was Obtained from the Widow Some Years Ago. He has Even Provided a Copy of a Photo from When He Obtained the Items that Shows Mrs Maupin seated with a Photo of Her Husband, Private Maupin, in the Background. There is Extensive Information Regarding Private Maupin\'s Life and Service included with the Grouping. The Information Includes Copies of Original Photos, One Original Photo, Copies of Newspaper Articles, Copy of His Separation Document or \"DD214,\" Copy of His Obituary, Copies of Information Posted by the Family on Genealogy Websites and Much More. There is also a Copy of the Original Collector\'s Postings on US Militaria Forum Regarding the Collection and How He Obtained it. The Grouping Remains EXACTLY as How the Original Collector Posted It and Remains Exactly How it Was When We Obtained it, Except that the Insignia Have Been Placed Correctly on the Jacket and More Research Has Been Added. Overall, this is a Beautiful, VERY Well Documented and VERY Well Researched Grouping that We are Confident You will Consider Museum Quality and Befitting of the Holdings of an Advanced Collector.This Grouping Consists of Private Maupin\'s Ike Jacket with all Insignia Including Sterling Jump Wings, Jump Oval and Half Size Combat Infantry Badge. Also Includes a Riker Mount with Original Photo of Private Maupin in Civilian Cloths, Repaired Set of Sterling Jump Wings, Sterling Full Size CIB, 82nd Airborne Patch, Five Ribbons, \'US\" Collar Disc, Coastal Artillery Collar Disc, USAAF Name Tag and Advanced Sector ETO Patch. Also Included is a 5 x 7 Photo Quality Copy of a Wartime Studio Portrait of PVT Maupin in his 82nd Airborne Division Uniform with Jump Wings Visible. Information Includes NO Less Than 30 Pages of Research and Copies of Information Provided by the Family and the Original Collector. Apparently this Grouping Was on Display at Some Point as there is Also a Small, Engraved Plaque that Can be Seen in the Photos. Of Interest with the Grouping is the Small, Half Sized Combat Infantry Badge. It Appears to be Theater Made and of the Type Made Famous by Major Richard \"Dick\" Winters of \"Easy\" Company, 101st Airborne and \"Band of Brothers\" Fame. The SHIRT and TIE Are INCLUDED but Did NOT Belong to Private Maupin. WE Added the Shirt and Tie for Display Purposes so that the Group will Be Ready to Display when You Receive it.Private Maupin Started His Career in the Army National Guard in 1940 and Would be Assigned to Artillery Units before Transferring into the Wartime Army and being Sent to Aircrew School. He left Aircrew School in 1944 for the Infantry and Volunteered for the Paratroops. Upon Completion of His Training at Fort Benning, He was Assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division and Shipped to the ETO. He was Assigned to the 325th Glider Infantry Regiment and Sent Directly to the Front Lines during the \"Battle of the Bulge.\" He Received a Bronze Star for Action in the Ardennes Campaign and Another for Action in the Rhineland Campaign. At Some Point He was Knocked Unconscious by a Bullet wound to the Head, in Which he Lay in Freezing Condition for Some Time. Suffering Frost Bite to His Hands and Feet Before being Recovered and Sent to England for Rehabilitation. At Cessation of Hostilities, He Like Many other Members of the 82nd and 325th Continued their Service In Europe. Private Maupin Continued his Service as an MP in France or German before Returning Home and being Discharged in December of 1945.1. WWII US 82nd Airborne Division \"Ike\" Jacket - EXCELLENT CONDITION - Ike Jacket Shows only Very Minor Signs of Age, Wear and Use. Jacket Remains VERY Solid with NO Soiling, Staining, Streaking or Fading and Maintains Excellent Color. Also Remains \"Crisp\" and in an Excellent State of Press. All Stitching and Material Remains Very Solid, but there Are a Four VERY Small Moth \"Bites.\" The Most Visible of Which is Located to the Lower Point of the Left Lapel and is Slightly Larger than a Pencil Lead. It is visible in the photos and only penetrates the outer most layer of fabric. The other Moth Nips are Approximately the Size of a Pencil Point and are Located to the Upper Rear of the Left Shoulder, Left Center of the Back and to the Right Sleeve at the Center of the Wrist Area. The Left Shoulder Bears an Excellent Condition 82nd Airborne Division \"AA\" Patch / SSI with SEPARATE \"Airborne\" Scroll/Tab. The Patch remains an Excellent Example in Every Way and also Remains Firmly Attached. The Lapels Maintain the \"US\" and Infantry Crossed Rifles Collar Discs in Very Good Condition and Maintaining their Original WWII Flat Faced Clutches. The Left Chest Bears a Sterling, Pin Back Parachute Qualification Badge or \"Jump Wings,\" Felt Jump Wing Oval, Three Place Clutch Back Ribbon Bar and Half Size Clutch Back Combat Infantry Badge. The Sterling Jump Wings Remain in Very Good to Excellent Condition and Bear an INVASION ARROW HEAD and Single Star. They Show only Minor Age and Wear with Light Tarnish and are Clearly Marked \"STERLING\" to the Rear. The Pin and Clasp Function Perfectly and Remain Undamaged. The Jump Wings are Attached to an Early Style Felt Jump Wing Oval that is Either a Very Dark Navy Blue Theater Made 325th GIR Oval, a 508th PIR Oval, or an Early Generic Paratroops Oval. It Shows Considerable Age and Wear with Visible Soiling to the Rear. The Jump Oval in NOT Attached to the Ike Jacket and the Jacket Shows NO Sign of Ever Having One Applied. The Three Place Ribbon Bar is the Typical WWII Plastic Coated Set that Show Visible Age and Wear but Remain in Good Condition. The Ribbons Consist of 1. Good Conduct, 2. European, African, Middle Eastern Campaign (EAME) with TWO Stars and 3. American Defense. The Ribbons are Missing their Original Flat Faced Clutches and Bear a Post War Set. Below the Ribbon is a Theater Made Half Size Combat Infantry Badge Most Recognized as the Type that We most Commonly Identify as Being Worn by Major Richard \"Dick\" Winters of \"Band of Brothers\" Fame. This Small CIB Remains in Very Good Condition, but Does Show Some Minor Wear. It is an Unmarked Clutch Back Example and Maintains It\'s Original FLAT Faced Clutches. The Jacket Also Bears an EXCELLENT Condition French Fourragere that Remains a Beautiful, High Quality Example. The Jacket Maintains ALL of It\'s Original Buttons in Excellent Condition and Firmly Attached. The INTERIOR of the JACKET Remains in EXCELLENT CONDITION as Well and BEARS the NAME and SERVICE NUMBER of \"J. H. HILL.\" Private Maupin\'s Name Is NOT In this Jacket. The Inside of the Interior Pocket Maintains it\'s QMD Tag that Can be Seen Above and Lists the Jacket as a SIZE \"40S.\" The MEASUREMENTS Are: CHEST = 22 Inches from Armpit to Armpit Measured Across the Front when Buttoned and Laying Flat; BACK = 19 3/4 Inches from Shoulder Seam to Shoulder Seam Measured Across the Upper Back, Just Below the Collar; SLEEVES = 24 Inches from Top Shoulder Seam to Cuff. 2. WWII US Army Enlisted Man\'s \"Gas Flap\" Wool Shirt - EXCELLENT CONDITION - Shirt Remains in Truly Excellent Condition in Every Way. Only Shows Minor Signs of Age, Wear and Use. No Readily Apparent Mothing, Soiling, Staining, Streaking or Fading. Maintains Excellent Color. All Original Buttons Remain Firmly in Place and in Excellent Condition. NO Name or Other Information to Interior and QMD Tag is Completely Faded Out. SIZE Tag to Collar Lists the Shirt as a SIZE \"14 1/2 - 32.\" CHEST = 21 INCHES Measured from Center Armpit Seam to Center Armpit Seam Across the Front when Buttoned and Laying Flat.
