We hope that you find a rare Halloween treasure!Size: 5 ½ x 5 ½ Description: This early German skull papier mache jack o’ lantern is considered a classic in the Halloween jol world. The startled red target style eyes, the wonderfully air brushed black facial highlights, and extraordinary molding of the skull (notice the high cheek bones, she or he must have been high society  ), and then just to make sure that she/he had the perfect Halloween look the German designer gave the fellow an orange and black checkered 360 degree crepe paper collar. This piece is stamped “GERMANY” on the bottom of his base and has had a candle burn inside of him. An example of this magnificent classic should be in every Halloween collection.Condition: Would be pristine condition except for some small separation at the edge of the top, and she/he could use a cleaning or in this case an erasing (he still has his 5 cent original pencil price on the back of his head). Exceptional piece!In case you were interested: There were two jols made from this mold, one was the skull listed above, and the other is this same skull mold but painted red and with horns. Both pieces came with collars (one style is checkered, like the one above, and the other is solid, both styles were used on both the red and white jols). As with a lot of this early Halloween there are many ironies. The red skull/devil is rarer than the white skull, but the white skull sells for more. Apparently, people like the realistic look of the white skull. Also, the air brushing shows better on the white jol and it is the air brushing that makes this piece spectacular.
