Ingraham Wall Regulator Clock Made For Western Union Pressed Oak Case Works
Price: US $305.00
If you are looking for a nice original wall regulator clock, this may be just for you. This was made by E. Ingraham in Bristol, Conn in the late 1800s or early 1900ss. Not sure if it had a specific model or design designation but the sticker on the back of the pressed Oak case indicates it was produced for use by the Western Union Co. The movement is stamped Ingraham and has the numbers 9 and 21 on the front of the brass case. Not sure if that is a date or movement ID#. The clock runs very well but as with all old clocks. it would probably benefit from a cleaning and oiling. New owner will have to regulate pendulum speed for accuracy. Case is a full 36 inches tall, 16 inches wide and 4.5 inches deep. I consider the overall condition to be quite good but you look at the pictures and make your own evaluation. Close your eyes when it is running and the rhythmic tic-toc will let you imagine sitting in an old train station. This is a substantial size clock weighing nearly 13 pounds so I will use great care in packaging to insure safe arrival. Questions? Please use seller contact link below. Thanks!

Had an er contact me saying this clock was NOT made for Western Union, that it was just called Western Union. I can't read all the sticker content on the back so I had to make some assumptions. Also I felt there was some significance to the letters and numbers carved on the upper right back of the case. What the significance is, I have no idea. I will let you draw your own conclusions based on what YOU see. That is what I had to do. This clock was obviously made for commercial application as opposed to home use. You hardly ever see a clock this large in a home setting but is more apt to appear in pictures of hardware stores, court rooms, libraries, legal offices, police departments and yes, even train depots among others. So who is to say? I do my best to describe items as accurately as possible, as I did in this case. Old clocks seldom come with provenance so being able to pin down exactly how this clock was used would seem impossible. We will never know whether or not this clock ever served as a time piece in a Western Union facility. Check the pictures over closely and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Have been doing some additional research on this clock. I found the following info on a collector's web site stating, quote: "The Ingraham Regulator Clocks were produced during the late 19th century and early 20th century. The clocks were originally made for the US based Western Union Communications and Money Transfer Company." The article also included a photo of one of these clocks that is a near twin to the one I am offering here. What does this prove? Nothing except there are obviously a lot of varying opinions pertaining to old time clocks.
