Best low TDP processor in the Intel 5600 series. Works great in my Dell T410. Runs significantly cooler, uses about 30% less power, and about 50% faster than E5620 processors that were in it. Overall, about a 80% increase in efficiency from a passmark per watt standpoint.

The Xeon line have always served me well, but what can you say about a CPU? This isn't the fastest in existence by a long shot, but I never intended for it to be - it's just doing duty in a pfSense router/IDS/IPS. Having said that, it's got all the features that I need (hardware AES), and is easily up to the task, and then some. It was and is great value, and was in great condition.

I replaced an old 2 core Xenon processor in a Dell Precision T3500 computer. Easiest mod possible. Major improvement at low cost. Sharp decrease in wattage. I have ordered more for similar mods. GREAT

These chips have been very good. The bios upgrade must happen before the chips are installed. I used windows and a program from dell, and it flashed the bios without any fancy editing, just run the program. The chips have been very good, giving me 12 cores. Having these 12 cores allows me to get the job done quickly. The lower power usage combined with the hashing power of the two CPU, gives me a profit when mining Monero coins. These chips could earn them-self in about 3 months with profit at current Monero prices in December of 2016. I am not going to mine coins.

Used in Fractal design XL R2, under 5V mode of case fans. Both Noctua NH-U12DX i4 are with low noise adapters and set to the slowest mode in the BIOS. The rest componets are: MSI GTX 560 Twin Frozr II, PCI gaming sound card and 2 HDDs (5900 rpm). WIth only Firefox launched, exhausted air is slightly higher then "warm", so "E" and even "X" XEONs would be too hot for quiet system. So i am glad that i cancelled my intention to buy E5649 and X5660/X5670, and bought L5640 (pair, of course).
