Expired date + low cost vs High price and current date = NO difference !!
I buy OEM ink cartridges that have expired dates....I can purchase 4 for $ 9.00.... as opposed to buying one cartridge that has not reached its expire date for $ 39.00. Refilled tri-color ones do not have the same color quality as oem cartridges, so do not waste your money. I have used cartridges that are 6 years past the date on them, and they work fine. I had an HP Deskjet 310 portablr printer sitting on a shelf for years. The last time I remember using it was with Windows 3.1 back around 1996. Recently I began a consulting job and needed to have a printer at the clients office. I'm using my notebook at the clients office and this allows me to work from home. But at the office I need a printer and all their printers are network printers. So I bought this cartridge and tried the 310 with Windows XP at home. It works great! I took a chance and ordered the ink cartridges knowing they were well past the expiration date. Unfortunately they didn't work, but it was worth a try.

Started printing clear concise copies; stopped after printing 40 copies
I received the ink cartridge quickly and the product was as described. After finding and removing the protection tab for ink spillage, and inserting the cartridge into the printer I was ready for printing. The product worked well, initially, printing clear, concise copies but stopped printing after 40 copies. Printer now gives indication that it is out of ink. As I have an older printer this may be a printer problem rather than an ink cartridge problem.I received the ink cartridge quickly and the product was as described.
